Filed under: Gaming , Developer , iPhone , App Store , iPad We stopped by the Capcom Fight Club party here at GDC 2010 last night, and in addition to playing the new game , we also got to talk to producer Takeshi Tazuka. Actually, we got to talk to his translator — Tazuka only speaks Japanese, and I only speak English, so the interview was done with a middleman in between.

We’ve definitely heard of a few different Android-based satellite and cable boxes in the past year, but it looks like Google’s exploring a real move into living room: the Wall Street Journal reports that El Goog and Dish Network are testing a TV search service on a new box that runs on “elements” of Android. (We’re taking that to mean it’s a stripped-down version of the OS tailored for a set-top, not some totally crazy remix.) The box features a QWERTY remote, and users can search both Dish content and other services like YouTube, which sounds like the same riff TiVo’s trying to pull off with the Premiere

Filed under: Apple Financial Apple’s announcement earlier today of an on-sale date and presales for the iPad seems to have struck a major chord with investors. Never mind the fact that April 3 only equals ” late March ” for unusually large values of March; when it comes to magical & revolutionary , Wall Street votes “yes, please” with a record intraday high for AAPL. The stock hit $219.70 at 1:14pm this afternoon , and is on track to remain above yesterday’s close of $210.71.

Filed under: Apple Corporate , Multimedia , Rumors , iPad Rupert Murdoch has confirmed , in a Q & A following his announcement of a New York ‘metro’ section for the Wall Street Journal, that an app for the iPad is under development (WSJ story here , behind the paywall). There’s an iPhone app available now, and it’s expected that the iPad version will expand upon it, with attention being paid to the iPad’s big screen. What’s most interesting about this story is the extreme secrecy with which Apple is handing the process.

So we were just casually strolling through Pla?a d’Espanya today in front of Fira de Barcelona — better known as the site of MWC 2010 this coming week — and we couldn’t help but notice that Microsoft’s digs at the Hotel Catalonia across the street had white stickers obviously covering something important underneath the Windows Phone logo that we’d seen a few days ago. The ensuing conversation went something like this: Chris: Dude, I think I see something there underneath the sticker. I think it says “SEVEN” in all caps

While we settle our disputes the old fashioned way (Judge Judy appearances) DirecTV’s taking its beef with recent Dish Network ads to a slightly different courtroom. The “Why Pay More” ad campaign has been running for the last year but it appears the latest “Man on the Street” spot (embedded after the break) is what has really upset DirecTV, claiming that its package costs around $20 a month more than Dish.
