Scale Computing raises $9M to sell enterprise storage

Scale Computing , which sells storage solutions to small and medium businesses, has raised $9 million in a second round led by  Benchmark Capital . Scale’s earlier investors, including  Blue Chip Venture Company ,  CID Equity and  Spring Mill Venture Partners also participated in the round

Bazaar Labs launches Miso, a Foursquare-style app for TV and movies

A startup called Bazaar Labs just released a new app called Miso , way to share what movies and TV shows you’re watching with your friends. Like the company’s last app, FlixUp, this is a movie-focused spin on an existing social service.

A new Google Labs project merges two breakthroughs into one.  Public Data Explorer brings together more than a dozen databases — health statistics, population numbers, employment figures — with a browser-based technology that lets researchers and presenters create charts that move. Google’s motion charts show trends in two ways not possible with motionless plots. First, the motion feature removes the requirement to use a chart’s X axis to represent time

New pictures and details emerge on Microsoft’s Courier “digital journal”

After catching a glimpse of Microsoft’s intriguing Courier device last fall — a dual screen multitouch and pen-based digital booklet — we’ve heard little about it. Now Engadget is reporting on new Courier pictures and details which bring the device one step closer to reality. The Courier is being positioned as a “digital journal” (instead of a generic multifunctional tablet device), and it’s said to be incredibly portable.
